BUCHANAN GENERAL HOSPITAL RECOGNIZED BY INGENIX AS ONE OF THE NATION’S TOP 200 HOSPITALS FOR ITS BILLING ACCURACY
Accurate medical coding and billing help contain rising health care costs, which now consume 16 percent of America’s gross domestic product.
Buchanan General Hospital has been informed that it is ranked among the nation’s top 200 hospitals for its billing accuracy, as recognized in the third annual “Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S.” report conducted by Ingenix, a leading health information company. Buchanan General Hospital was ranked number 46 in the Top Rural, Non-Teaching Coding Hospitals category. The report ranks hospitals by the completeness and accuracy of their medical coding practices that are used to bill Medicare for inpatient medical services. Only three hospitals in the state of Virginia made this list, University of Virginia Medical Center, Chippenham Medical Center, and Buchanan General Hospital.
“We are honored to be listed within the ‘Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S.’ report,” said Joan Jamison, CEO. “The report recognizes our efforts to engage in medical coding practices that are accurate and compliant with government billing regulations, which helps our organization do its part to curtail rising health care costs.” Buchanan General employs two (2) Certified Coding Specialists who perform the coding for the hospital, Brenda Baker, CCS (photo left) and Jackie Ratliff, CCS (photo right).
