Health Information Director - Health Information

Responsibilities:
Manages and directs all aspects of the Health Information Management Department. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing Health Information Services, to include policy and procedure development, revision and enforcement. Serves as Privacy Official for the organization.

Job Duties:
• Perform privacy risk assessments and related compliance monitoring initiatives
• Oversee, direct, and deliver privacy training
• Implement a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and acting on all complaints concerning potential breaches in privacy policies and procedures
• Ensure that all employees are acting in total compliance with privacy policies and procedures and deploy sanctions in the event of a breach
• Work with all personnel involved in the release of PHI to ensure full coordination and cooperation under policies and procedures and federal HIPAA regulations
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and HIPAA regulations to ensure organizational compliance
• Oversees the integrity, completion and maintenance of all patient medical records in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, as well as outside accrediting and regulatory agencies
• Responsible for daily operations of the Health Information Management Department

Qualifications:
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information technician (RHIT) or willing to obtain
• Associate Degree
